Wood Pressed - Kachi Ghani Mustard Oil 5 ltr

This is wood pressed, Kachi Ghani black mustard oil, extracted from the seeds of the mustard plant using a traditional method of bull driven Kolhu. 

Here's how it works:

1. Preparation: The mustard seeds are first cleaned and sorted to remove any impurities or foreign materials.

2. Loading: The seeds are then loaded into a funnel-shaped hopper located above the kolhu. The seeds drop onto the center of a large horizontal millstone or chakki that is made of either wood or stone.

3. Grinding: The pair of bulls are then attached to the kolhu using a harness or a yoke, and are trained to walk around in a circular motion, moving the millstone with them. The millstone rotates slowly and grinds the seeds into a paste.

4. Oil Extraction: The paste is collected in a circular trough or khalai, which surrounds the millstone. The paste is then manually scooped and squeezed to extract the oil. The oil flows out of the khalai and is collected in a container placed below.

5. Filtering: The oil is then filtered through a cloth or a sieve to remove any impurities or solid particles.

Bull-driven Kolhus are still used in some parts of rural India and considered to be a more traditional and natural way of extracting oil without using any chemicals or electricity.
